It’s nearly the end of January, and I’m sorry I’ve been so absent. I’m still in hospital, and aside from a friend or two keeping me going, I’m nonverbal and feel like I want to not exist most of the time.
Some positives:
- I have been eating Christmas panettone and trying some of my old favourite foods (blessed be marmite, sardines, baked beans, hummus, feta, Misfits bars, yogurt, crunchy pears, cucumber, burnt toast, and of course, cereal)
- I have read 6 books this year already, and some have felt pretty life changing
- I have made a few posters, including ones on Ancient Egypt and the distinction between chocolate bars and chocolate biscuit bars!
- I’m gaining weight
- I’ve been doing some drawing and getting back into music
- I did some fun illustrations and made a menu for a fake cafe concept, for amusement!
I also set some New Years resolutions, which I feel are self explanatory!
- To read 52 books (again)
- To complete my portrait art course
- To get to minimum 40kg, and then travel
- To make at least 24 posters
POSSIBLES: To repick up Japanese, and to keep up my blog!!
My goals are all about me doing the things I love, and also getting healthy, which will enable me to do things I dream of, like travelling. I didn’t want to set any goals that were too pressure filled, like driving, or passing exams. I’m slowly learning that life is about being happy in yourself, not impressing people you don’t care about, and meeting the standards of society or those who don’t understand you.
Do you set goals for the year? I know a lot of people dismiss them as unnecessary, and it’s true, for a lot of us a new calendar year isn’t significant for any real, tangible reason except because we say it is…but actually, why not? It’s a new year, so why not use the opportunity? Of course we can set goals at any time, but we often don’t have the motivation to, so to me a new year feels like as good a reason as any to write down some aims.
What were yours, if you set any?
And if you didn’t – do you have any to set from now?
